These codes are used for various purposes such as insurance reimbursement, statistical analysis, and medical research.

To put it more simply, medical billing and coding convert patient records and clinical data into medical claims.

Medical billing and coding professionals turn patient treatment and diagnosis data into numerical codes that payers use to determine how much to reimburse patients.
